Recruitment agencies reported 800% more engagement with job adverts that had a video embedded in them.
In 2018 I decided to do what none of my competitors were doing. I started to make video adverts for my vacancies.
Now, 5 years later, this is still something that only a handful of recruiters are doing. I have been encouraging recruiters for years to jump on this mini-trend. Job adverts in general are quite boring and don’t jump off the screen and grab your attention. When you scroll through job boards or social media, you need something to make you stop scrolling. If your adverts look the same and sound the same as everyone else’s, then they won’t grab anyone's attention.

Social media has taken over the world. It is at the heart of everything we do. It's often the first thing you do in the morning and the last thing you do at night. So, when you scroll through job boards or social media, you need something to make you stop scrolling. If your adverts look the same and sound the same as everyone else’s, then they won’t grab anyone's attention.

When people wanted a new job previously they went to job boards, now they jump on LinkedIn or a Facebook industry group. I have seen an upward trend of job ad LinkedIn posts in the last few years, but they all look the same and sound the same. They can easily get lost in the noise of a social media news feed. You need to give it something that will make it jump up and make the job seeker know that this is an advert that they need to see. Having a video advert to go alongside your post will create more traction.

You don’t need to have a studio or an editing suite. Just record yourself on your phone.
